Cook Assistant
Location: El Dorado, Arkansas
Assist Cook in kitchen management and food preparation in accordance with State, County, CACFP, and Head Start Performance Standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Assist Cook in all areas of food ordering and preparation in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Assist Cook in monitoring food allergies and dietary conditions of children and prepare food accordingly. Assist with paperwork and reports according to agency policies and procedures and CACFP guidelines and regulations. Set up and clean up meal time environment. Maintain a safe and sanitary environment according to state and federal guidelines. Attend local, out of town, and overnight meetings, training, and conferences as required, and complete a minimum of 15 professional development clock hours per year. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. General Have and maintain a valid Driver’s license and vehicle insurance. Have an initial health examination. Pass state Criminal Background Check, Central Registry Check, and/or FBI Background Check if applicable. Knowledge and Skills Ability to follow verbal and written directions and perform cooking duties using proper techniques and skills. Ability to perform basic math. Ability to use varied kitchen tools and equipment safely. Ability to use agency computers and software programs. Ability to solve practical problems Education/Experience High School diploma or GED. Serve as an advocate and liaison between family and community services and in collaboration with center staff, work to ensure children and families receive comprehensive services according to Head Start Performance Standards. Responsible for providing services to parents of Early Head Start children and expectant mothers. Complete the Family Assessment and develop a plan of action to meet family needs and goals, conduct a minimum of two home visits per year with each family, meet with expectant mothers weekly and conduct home visits after delivery to assist with the transition of the infant into the classroom setting, make referrals and schedule appointments for services, recruit new families for the program, ensure that children are up to date on all health-related issues, maintain child records, and submit reports as required.
